Nino Abesadze

MD, PhD

Nino Abesadze – MD, PhD, Doctor of Public Health, has 15 years of work experience in a managerial position, 10 years of experience in pedagogy, she holds state certificates in the following specialties: laboratory medicine, hematology, pediatrics, transfusiology.

She worked as State Programs Coordinator R. Lugar Center for Public Health Research National Center for Disease Control & Public Health, as the Medical Director of JSC Megalab, Director of the Laboratory and Transfusion Department at the Medical Corporation Evex, has completed work practice in Germany (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf; Vestische Kinder- und Jugendklinik Datteln), training courses in healthcare management (Georgian State Medical Academy, University of Georgia, Bank of Georgia University), is a member of the Board of the Georgian Association of Laboratory Medicine, a member of the IFCC Laboratory Medicine Practice Guidelines (TF-LMPG) Working Group, an auditor of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System. In 2015- 2016, she was a member of the working group under the Ministry of Health of Georgia, according to which the regulations for the provision of laboratory services were approved. During the pandemic in 2020, she was a member of the Laboratory Working Group under the Ministry of Health of Georgia, according to which the algorithm for laboratory diagnostics of Covid-19 was approved. She is a member of the Working Group on Strengthening the Blood Safety System in Georgia of the EU Twinning Project (No. GE 18 ENI HE 01 19), within the framework of which amendments to the Law on Blood Donation, by-laws and other regulatory documentation were developed. She is the author of the professional retraining program “Laboratory Medical Technical Assistant” implemented at Sukhumi State University.

She is engaged in pedagogical activities, is a visiting lecturer at Batumi International University, as well as a lecturer at Sukhumi State University. The list of projects implemented under her leadership includes: implementation of quality management systems (ISO 9001) in the laboratories of Evex clinics, centralization of laboratory services, accreditation of medical laboratories according to the international standard ISO-15189, Megalab, stem cell transplantation (at the Caucasus Medical Center), and centralized blood center VIAN (blood bank).
