Dr. Berney is a Professor of Surgery at Ilia State University in Tbilisi, and an Emeritus Professor of Surgery at the University of Geneva School of Medicine. He has an international reputation for his large experience in general, oncological and transplantation surgery.

He is the former chief of the Division of Transplantation at the University of Geneva Hospitals in Switzerland and he currently serves as xxxxx, where he has a surgical activity in organ transplantation, oncological surgery, and general surgery.

He graduated from the University of Geneva School of Medicine and specialized in general, visceral, and transplant surgery in Switzerland, Belgium and the USA. He has been the president of several societies: the European Pancreas and Islet Transplantation Association (EPITA), the Swiss Transplantation Society, the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) and the International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association (IPITA).
