
Medical Oncology Department of Mardaleishvili Medical Centre
The Medical Oncology Department at Mardaleishvili Medical Centre is the largest medical cancer treatment unit within one of Georgia’s most multi-profile oncological hospitals. The department provides chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormonal therapy for solid tumors and hematological diseases—including Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. The unit is headed by Nia Sharikadze, an oncologist and onco-hematologist with 30 years of clinical experience. She is a member of ESMO, ASCO, and ESO and has participated in over 24 international clinical trials. All treatment protocols comply with ESMO and U.S. National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines.

Nia Sharikadze graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University in 1990 and received her degree in oncology and hematology in 2002. She has over 30 years of experience in clinical oncology, has published 12 scientific papers, and participated in more than 24 international clinical trials. Dr. Sharikadze is an expert oncologist for the Ministry of Health of Georgia and the Solidarity Fund. Before joining the Mardaleishvili team in 2018, she headed the oncology department at “MediClub Georgia” from 2009 to 2018. She has contributed significantly to the development of Georgia’s national oncological treatment guidelines, including protocols for cervical and breast cancer under the City Cancer Challenge initiative.
